2021 Awards & Scholarships
Margaret Pidlaski Scholarship– Two $1000 awards given to two Manitoba ESL students who have demonstrated commitment, perseverance, and aptitude for learning, have defined education and career paths, and have financial barriers (as defined by Manitoba Student Aid) that may interfere with achieving their academic or career goals. Nominators cannot be close family members of their nominees (e.g. sibling, child, grandchild, spouse, parent, niece, or nephew).
Immigrant Learner Award – $250 presented to a permanent resident or refugee in recognition of their perseverance in learning and is currently enrolled in a federally-funded ESL program.
International Learner Award – $250 presented to a current international student (student visa holder) in Manitoba in recognition of their perseverance in learning.
TESL MB Teacher Award – $250 presented to an Adult ESL teacher in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of ESL for newcomers through service to the community.
ESL Volunteer Award – $250 presented in recognition of excellence in and dedication to volunteering in the field of ESL for adults in Manitoba.
We will begin accepting applications until April 23, 2021. Scholarship and awards recipients will be announced on May 14, 2021. Please direct any inquiries to Awards Chair Ricci Gementiza at teslmanitoba.awards@gmail.com.
